Theatre Workshops in Acting, Improvisation and Makeup!

Courthouse Youth Arts & Someone New Theatre Company present an in-term seven-week course of workshops on the tools of the stage: five different workshops, focussing on aspects of theatre for beginnings and theatre enthusiasts alike.

Classes begin Tue 9 Oct and run until Sat 25 Nov

Fri 4:30pm – 6:30pm &
Sat 10:00am – 12:00pm (7 weeks)

MAKEUP-FOR-STAGE Tue 9 Oct 7:00pm – 9:00pm (7 weeks)
IMPROVISATION Tue 9 Oct 4:30pm – 6:00pm (7 weeks)




These workshops give a fun, intimate look into how the theatre works, how actors develop their skills, how stage fright can be overcome, or how a script can be written!

Meet the team:

Ryan O’Connor

A graduate of the University of New England with a Bachelor of Theatre and Performance, Ryan has worked in four different theatre companies from Armidale, NSW, to Geelong, Victoria, since his introduction to theatre, and produced and directed 12 shows. Co-founder of the Friends of Theatre Society back in Armidale, Ryan is keen to get involved in growing youth theatre in Geelong.

Joanna Lusty

A life-long theatre enthusiast, Joanna has recently graduated with a Bachelor of Theatre and Performance from the University of New England. She has been involved in professional shows across NSW and Victoria, and directed several youth productions – her most recent being an adaptation of The Wind in the Willows in Armidale, NSW. Joanna’s specialties are acting methodology and production design.

Gracie Rogers

Recently having graduated with a Creative Bachelor of Arts majored in Theatre at La Trobe University, Gracie has been immersed in the arts from an early age. She has directed, produced, and acted in many theatre projects in Australia and overseas, from the Asia-Pacific Triennial of Performing Arts to the Festival of Australian Student Theatre, but specialises in acting and directing.

Nic Brooke

With a continuing interest in theatre and writing, Nic is the founder of STAT, the dramatic society at the Deakin University. He has written and produced several plays, and was most recently involved with the hugely successful production The Crucible. Nic’s specialty is scriptwriting and directing, in theatre and short films.
