It’s officially the school holidays, and for us that means lots of exciting programs. Below is a little list of what we have on offer in the space (thanks to Central Geelong Marketing):

When: Tuesday 3rd October
2 x 1hr sessions 11.00AM and 1.00PM:

Girls will get the chance to learn the art of traditional basket weaving from renowned local artist and elder Aunty Helen Brotherton. While boys will get to learn the traditional stories of the ancient instrument Yidaki (Didjeridoo) from local artist, musician and storyteller Norm Jurrawaa Stanley.

Note: Basket weaving workshop is girls only and Aboriginal arts workshop with Didjeridoo or boomerang is boys only. The jewellery making will be there as a supplementary for all involved. Age: 8-18


When: Wednesday 4th October, 11.30am – 1.30pm

Got an interest in photography? Learn the basics of using the manual settings of your camera and how best to identify what settings to use for each shot. The workshop will also go through some basic editing techniques on Photoshop and Lightroom. If you have a camera please bring it along, though the workshop is still fine to attend without one.  Age: 13-20


When: Thursday 5th October, 10.30am -12.00pm

Think outside the box and learn about colour theory and abstract painting with talented local artist Miranda Jarvis. Age: 10+


When: Thursday 5th October, 1.00pm – 3.30pm

In this workshop art meets science as we use simple chemistry and the power of the sun to create unique artworks capturing the shadows of objects. We will experiment with mixtures of collage, plant life and semi transparent objects to make creative photograms. Ages: 9+


When: Friday 6 th October, 1.00pm – 3.30pm

Create your own t-shirt design to take home using a DIY screen printing method. The printing will be done with household items and a reusable screen template to print onto the fabric. Age: 9+


When: Friday 6 th October, 10.30pm – 12.00pm

Local young artist Pascalle Bailey will take you through the art of mark making. Learn the various techniques and how to apply line work to your drawing practice. Age: 13+
