These Are My Hours

THESE ARE MY HOURS is the story of a single birth — start to finish.

This intimate documentary immersion into one woman’s physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual experience of giving birth is the first film told from the perspective of a woman in labor.

Just after midnight on December 6, 2016, a contraction awakens Emily Graham, in bed at home in Greenville, South Carolina. Labor is finally here.

Over the ensuing hours Emily navigates the depths of her own body, with the support of her birth team: her husband Jason, her midwife Carey, and her mother Judy. You are invited to join them and be a witness to Emily every step of the way…

Q&A panel

Judy van Dreven is the mother of three homeborn children, and is also a midwife supporting other women to birth in a range of settings, including home. Judy is a registered endorsed midwife and completed her Masters of Midwifery in 2006. Judy is also the owner and director of The Birth House, Geelong’s midwifery and birth hub, which provides women & families with a variety of services, from preconception, through to pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding and beyond. The Birth House also offers a purpose built Birth Retreat, centrally located in McKillop Street, which provides a beautiful, welcoming and private space in which to give birth and meet your baby for the first time.

Dasha Clarke has been supporting birthing women as a Doula since the powerful birth of her second son a couple of years ago. Having experienced a clinical and fearful birth the first time, then sharing the same experience whilst caring for her dying father she realized that the beauty of our life’s cycles and the power of our surrender to that was being taken away, leaving people broken instead of expanded. She is committed to honoring the power of birth and enhancing the unique individual unfolding of this by replacing fear with love, one birth and one family at a time.
