‘Stop Saying Sorry’ opens on Friday the 18th of January from 6PM-8PM in our main gallery space at CHYA. This exhibition runs until the 15th of February.
Opening our 2019 exhibition program is ‘Stop Saying Sorry’ by Vanessa Conte.
Vanessa Conte is a mixed media abstract artist, exploring colour and mark-making. She completed an Advanced Diploma of Visual Arts at RMIT, which benefited her greatly! But after getting knocked down and not being accepted into her next artistic course Vanessa realised she could still make and love art without a course for now. Now she is an emerging artist creating on her own terms and taking each day as it comes.
‘Stop Saying Sorry’ is a series about Vanessa’s habit of over apologising. Vanessa Conte tends to apologise for others and herself way too often. This series is based around emotional trauma, the highs and lows, overcoming challenges and growing. Vanessa is enthused by colour, mixed media, layering, text and the pure spontaneity of making abstract art.
‘Stop Saying Sorry’ opens and runs alongside Samantha Gregory’s ‘Focus’ exhibition. This exhibition will have an accompanying public floor talk (date TBC).
