In this piece, the artist is choosing an unlikely collaborator that reacts passively to
the performance. In this regard, nature is wild and unpredictable. Scott chooses
to explore this idea by using household plants to play the role of his collaborator
in an ambient performance involving projections, a drum kit, guitar pedals and
an array of household items. In this intimate performance Scott intends to build
on the contrast between the chaotic and peaceful unpredictability of nature, and
the role that it plays in music and art.
Scott Mclatchie is a multi-disciplinary artist working within installation and performance
based works. Scott is interested in the juxtaposition between the intimate
and personal experience of using the human body as a tool and the alien and cold
abstraction of digital/analogue technology. Scott hopes to trigger an emotional
response in audiences with this idea of the intimate and alien.
